Shotgun
- While the 12
gauge is the most popular with many of our members and guests, we also have
guests and members who shoot 10 gauges or 20 gauges. Most of our wing
shooting is at ranges of 40 yards or less, so use the shotgun that is most effective
for you at those ranges. One of
the keys to hunter success is to be familiar and SAFE with whatever shotgun
you choose to use.
Ammunition
- (At least two
boxes of ammunition) Bring only the correct size shot for the species you are
hunting to insure your hunting success. You can look up correct size shot on
the links below.
NSW recommends Hevi
Shot or Hevi Steel

Waterproof
Boots - Knee or
Hip boots will do in most situations, but we encourage you to bring along a
good pair of chest waders for added comfort and convenience.
Warm
Clothing - The
temperatures are usually in the 30's or warmer, but sometimes the weather
turns bitterly cold, wet and windy, particularly in the late-season, so be
prepared for the worst. Warm layered clothing is a good practice to stay
comfortable as the temperature changes.
Duck
Calls/Snow Goose Calls - Your guide will do all the calling for you. If you like to call,
we'd love to listen - well, usually!
Game
Strap - To
prevent confusion or misunderstanding, especially with multiple birds
harvested by different hunters, we have found most hunters just like to carry
the game they harvest.
Dogs
- If you've got
a hunting companion you want to bring we'd love to see him/her in action. All
we ask is that you only bring dogs that are under control. Everyone loves to
hunt with a good gun dog, but nobody wants a dog in the blind that is out of
control raising safety concerns and flaring ducks. You must keep your dog
leashed or kenneled until you are out of the designated parking area. You
must notify us in advance if you intend to bring your dog so we can decide if
your guide should bring a dog as well.
Snacks/Drinks
- It’s
always good to kick back and enjoy the scenery while you enjoy a beverage
with a tasty snack. Of course you might not find the time between all the
shooting.
Eye
& Ear Protection - Good Eye and Ear Protection within a blind or close proximately to a
hunting partner is always a good practice and ensures your safety.
Camera
- A picture is
worth a thousand words.
